Why We Set Up This Site It all
started rather gratuitously. A few weeks ago, I and a colleague of
mine visited a small British town to meet one of our clients. Our
meeting
which was held in a restaurant, finished at around 11:30 am.
Since it was a Friday, we decided to offer our
Jumma prayer at some local
mosque before setting off for London. Unaware of where the local
mosque, we wondered if the restaurant staff could guide us to the
nearest mosque which was rather wishful. With amused blank looks the
restaurant staff pouted, shrugged their shoulders and said they did
not know if there was at
all a mosque in the near vicinity.
Seeking direction from passer byes, too, proved futile. They too
could not
tell us if there was a mosque anywhere near there. Then it
suddenly dawned
upon us that we actually had a laptop with us which could be hooked
up to a
mobile phone to access the internet from virtually anywhere in the
UK.
Yet, this was hardly a solution. The problem was obvious. There just
wasn't
any website which could help us find our destination in a remote
British
town. Well! the rest is history as they say. If you dont have the
tools to
dig the ground, you ought to make the tools first. We instantly
thought of
creating this tool to help all those who would share our predicament. We
commenced our work on a web directory that could serve as a central
point of information about UK mosques, prayer timings
and Islamic events.
This Is Purely An Informative
Site This is purely and emphatically an
informative site with resolutely no
political intentions and motives. This site is not affiliated with
any
political or religious party/group nor does it support or promote
religious
extremism or intolerance. The fundamental reason and purpose
of this site
is to serve the Muslim community in the Untied Kingdom by
providing them
up-to-date information about mosques, prayer timings and
Islamic events in
UK.
This site will also provide some information about fundamental
Islamic
beliefs and how to carry out Islamic Ibadaats (prayers).
Future
Plans Currently this site has only
English version but we plan to provide
important information in some other languages as well.
Some of the features of our future plans include;
(1) Islamic Audio (Azaan, Verses of Holy Quran, etc.)
(2) Live coverage of Jumma prayer from Makkah
(3) Live coverage of Hajj from Makkah
